Brahmasri R Muthukrishna Sastrigal is a doyen of Meemamsa. He has made significant contribution to the preservation and propagation of Vedic knowledge.

He served as the principal of Jagadguru vidhyasthanam at Thiruvanaikaval for 21 years between 1975 and 1996.

He institutionalised the Sanskrit publication house “Hithabhashini”, through which he published treatise for various subjects of importance. He is the recipient of “President’s award” awarded the Highest honor in the Sanskrit scholarship given by the then President of India, Giani Jail Singh.
